B.B. King: The King of Blues and His Iconic Guitars

At Brothers Guitar Shop in NYC, we are proud to celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest musicians of all time, B.B. King. Known as the King of Blues, B.B. King was a true pioneer of the genre, and his influence can still be felt in the music world today.

One of the most distinctive aspects of B.B. King's sound was his guitar playing. He was known for his signature vibrato and his use of the Gibson ES-335, a semi-hollow body electric guitar that he played throughout his career. In fact, B.B. King was so closely associated with the ES-335 that Gibson even released a signature model in his honor.

But B.B. King's love of guitars didn't stop there. He also played a number of other instruments throughout his career, including the Gibson Lucille, a custom-made guitar that he named after a woman who saved his life during a nightclub fire in the 1950s. The Lucille became B.B. King's go-to guitar, and he played it on many of his most famous recordings.
